"Thank you for clicking on my web site. A fear I have had about the internet has almost come true--that I would spend more time on it than my Bernina sewing machine. Still stitching away everyday, but the internet has become a new social tool reaching out to fellow quilters.
The power of TV continues to link us together as Lap Quilting is aired across the country through www.createtv.com. People can now comment and give feedback to vservices@unctv.org. Here you can even request viewing of earlier series such as 800, 900 or 1000. It is great to think these shows are awakening new potential quilters and also reinforcing techniques for the more seasoned of us quiltmakers.
On my web site, do check out the TV link if you have viewed these shows, especially the Resource link. There you will find emails, addresses and sources for the individual shows. The companion book for the 1200 series is Georgia Bonesteel's Quiltmaking Legacy, where many of the projects are featured, such as Chick on a Stick, Crazy Patch handbags and the mountain quilts. The Lap Quilting Lives book goes with the 1100 series and the popular Button Up quilt is demonstrated. Go to the Quilt Store link for these books.
What's new at Quilt Built here in Flat Rock, NC? A busy time in the chicken coop with three chicks plus Miss Priss who went broody and has become a surrogate mother to Oreo I, II and III. The Master Gardener program keeps me busy with volunteer work, especially at the NC State Theatre, the Flat Rock Playhouse.
Quilt projects galore happen daily in the studio. I am proud to be the jacket cover designer for a new childrens musical CD, called Kid's Dance. Anticipating the upcoming Hall of Fame Celebration in July means completing the pillow shams for their autograph quilt. Up to date projects are featured on my Blog at http://blog.georgiabonesteel.com. An annual affair is the Nine Quarter Circle Ranch where I co teach with Charlotte Warr Andersen, so busy putting on my western thinking cap or should I say cowboy hat. How nice to even turn to some of my own books for a design. Historic Flat Rock will be putting on a gala once again in July with a Scottish Ceilidh (a traditional social gathering that involves playing Gailic folk music and dancing). Look for the completed project on my blog.
Happy Quilting, Georgia
